- Some key competencies that leaders need today
would be inspiration, emotional importance, knowing how to distribute and
include verbally, superb oratory skills, and a good acumen for
storytelling. Starting with inspiration, leaders must inspire through example
by utilizing communication skills relevant to any situation that might
present the leader in an influential way, aiding in his/her role as a
guide. Allocation of tasks can be a simple process when communicating
these tasks towards an individual and explaining how it relates to the
goal of the team, specifying each team member’s unique contribution may
garner excellent results. Efficiently communicating by using eloquent
oratorical skills may take years of practice, but is much needed for
today’s leader, because communicating what exactly is to be done and
delivering a sound message can be a very influential factor in rallying
the team to complete any given task or assignment as a group or
individual. Leaders must at often
times put others before themselves, allowing team members to make
leadership choices on their own which in turn reflect the potency of the
communication between the leader and the team.
- Why or why not? Rather communicating to a large group, small group, or an individual, and good leader must use each element as a way to get fabulous results. Communicating to an individual can bring out the talents, skills, and qualities that the individual possess, as with any coach, mentor, teacher, or leader, when learning the strengths and weaknesses of an individual team member this can aid in properly allocating the right task, or work assignment for that individual, giving him/her an excellent chance to become a significant factor when delegating group activities. Harnessing the skills of each individual is more important than communicating to a group, because as when determining and setting benchmarks for a groups progress, assessing an individual’s inherent contribution can be a vital factor for the success of the whole group’s project.
